In Ethiopia, we engage farmers in agroforestry and community-based seed multiplication to increase farmers&#8217; incomes and improving farming systems. Engaging with local actors at every step but bringing ideas from outside, we are making rural farming more market-friendly and environmentally sustainable. Our Ethiopian partner farmers have planted more than 30 million trees, produced over 1500 MT of improved teff seed and improved the futures of hundreds of thousands of their neighbors. In Ethiopia alone, our permanent team numbers over 150 with nearly 1000 rural seasonal staff supporting them. Our Ethiopia headquarters are in Addis Ababa and we have a large program office Bahir Dar, plus several smaller field offices.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about our work, take a look at our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/oneacrefund.org\/work-with-us\/why-work-here\/why-work-here\/\">Why Work Here<\/a>\u00a0blog for more information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Role<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Core Tree Program Associate will be an essential part of our leadership team in one of One Acre Fund&#8217;s fastest growing country programs. The Ethiopia program is poised to serve over 300,000 farmers in 2023, grow 10 million trees and scale an ambitious seed multiplication program. By 2025, we aim to serve 500,000 farmers and plant 100 million trees.<\/p>\n<p>We are seeking a strong individual to work through and build the effectiveness of our field and support staff of the Core Tree Department (100+ full time employees). You will report directly to the Ethiopia Core Tree Lead, and you will directly manage (at least) two key deputies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Execution:<\/strong>\u00a0You will\u00a0through your team coordinate the execution of all the activities necessary to bring trees into the hands of our farmers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Field Team recruitment and training<\/li>\n<li>Nursery officers recruitment and training<\/li>\n<li>Coordination with our Logistic\/Procurement Team for input orders and deliveries<\/li>\n<li>Weekly follow-up of nurseries establishment and production<\/li>\n<li>Coordination with local\u00a0stakeholders and casuals hiring for the tree seedlings marketing and distribution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Program Design:<\/strong>\u00a0You will\u00a0design improvements to our programs and trial new ones to generate an additional $5-$10m USD of impact\u00a0and\/or\u00a0to make our programs more cost efficient.\u00a0You will\u00a0work with a diverse set of people to gather input on these and coordinate their roll out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lead a Team of Leaders: <\/strong>You will\u00a0work with others to set department or sub-department-level goals, then guide your team to achieve these through clear expectations, support and coaching.\u00a0You&#8217;ll\u00a0need to ensure your team has development plans and opportunities for growth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Budget:<\/strong>\u00a0You will\u00a0support annual budgeting for the core tree department (around $1.8M) and lead cost efficiency plays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Career Growth and Development<\/strong><br \/>\nWe have a strong culture of constant learning and we invest in developing our people.
