    About the Opportunity<\/strong>
    \nThe Investment Officer will be a trusted partner of Inkomoko Ethiopia\u00a0clients with the responsibilities below:<\/p>\n

    Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

    DUE DILIGENCE AND INVESTMENT PREPARATION (60% time):\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Respond to inquiries from prospective borrowers; support them in applying for our facility\/investment products.<\/li>\n
    • Introduce the investment products to entrepreneurs, explaining the requirements for repayment and the seriousness of taking on debt financing.<\/li>\n
    • Conducts investment appraisal, collects detailed information (personal, business, and guaranties), and arranges to open a new investment account.<\/li>\n
    • Prepares and executes investment contracts and arranges for disbursement of investment in kind.<\/li>\n
    • Conduct due diligence on prospective borrowers, including site visits, document preparation, coordination with the Business Development Advisors and Business Associates, etc.<\/li>\n
    • Communicate all materials to the Investment Manager, and assist in preparing credit reports for Investment Committee meetings.<\/li>\n
    • Take photos of entrepreneurs, have them sign photo waivers, and ensure entrepreneurs\u2019 stories are posted on the Kiva platform for fundraising with all correct information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT (20% time)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Offer excellent customer service through daily conversations, correspondence, and site visits as needed to maintain strong positive relationships with borrowers.<\/li>\n
      • Work with the Inkomoko Ethiopia\u00a0Business Development Services team to ensure borrower success, and Visit clients for monitoring.<\/li>\n
      • Maintain both delinquency and default rates below set rates during yearly goal setting,<\/li>\n
      • Track information about borrowers and communicate effectively with key stakeholders about client status.<\/li>\n
      • Actively participate as key staff in the weekly Investment Review Meeting.<\/li>\n
      • Maintain a tracking system of borrower payments and contact information.<\/li>\n
      • Work with the Finance& Admin team to produce invoices for payments and monthly reconciliation of investment department transactions.<\/li>\n
      • Interact with government leaders, court systems, and others for follow-up on lack of payments.<\/li>\n
      • Ensure that we adhere to our Kiva partnership’s requirements, including reporting and journaling.<\/li>\n
      • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (20% time)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        • Update both disbursements and investment repayments in the Investment Management System (LMS-powered by Odoo)<\/li>\n
        • Maintain and demonstrate proficiency with investment software applications<\/li>\n
        • Work with system providers to utilize applications to the fullest capacity, streamlining processes and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance<\/li>\n
        • Assist with system parameters and design to meet the needs of multiple departments.<\/li>\n
        • Manage user security access<\/li>\n
        • Ensure proper segregation of duties, develop and maintain workflows for all stages of investment<\/li>\n
        • Advise the Management team on how to automate key lending processes<\/li>\n
        • Supervise all aspects of the investment operations. This supervision includes posting of payments, payoffs and balancing, disbursing investment funds<\/li>\n
        • Ensure the lending team is provided with updates and procedural changes<\/li>\n
        • Participates in the review and recommendations of operational systems and procedures<\/li>\n
        • Successfully interact with lending staff to improve the accuracy and efficiencies of the Investment management system<\/li>\n
        • Prepare related reports and administer the system<\/li>\n
        • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Minimum Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n

            \n
          • University degree in Finance or other related fields<\/li>\n
          • Must be fluent in English and\u00a0Amharic plus knowledge of\u00a0a local language (Somali, Oromo or Arabic)<\/li>\n
          • Experience in group savings and group lending investments is preferred<\/li>\n
          • Strong financial and accounting skills; familiarity with business financial policies in\u00a0Ethiopia<\/li>\n
          • Experience in investment management, microfinance, capital leases, and access to finance for\u00a0Micro businesses and SMEs is\u00a0STRONGLY preferred<\/li>\n
          • Prior experience dealing with customers\/debt<\/li>\n
          • Prior experience in a lending environment<\/li>\n
          • Experience providing business advice to entrepreneurs<\/li>\n
          • Prior experience in Investment management system software<\/li>\n
          • Decisive individuals with the ability to deliver unpleasant messages to the debtors and assertive enough to get the debtors to pay off the entire debt<\/li>\n
          • Experience in managing difficult clients and reaching positive outcomes<\/li>\n
          • Very strong attention to detail and good follow-through<\/li>\n
          • Comfort with the civil court system and previous experience in litigation preferred<\/li>\n
          • Unrelenting perseverance, personal integrity, and critical thinking skills<\/li>\n
          • 2+ years of work experience in relevant or applicable field<\/li>\n
          • Must be able to legally work in Ethiopia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
